What factors affect the poor heat transfer efficiency of heat exchangers?
Release Date:2025-04-18

Heat exchanger is indispensable heat dissipation device in refrigeration technology. The internal structure of a heat exchanger includes a condenser, evaporator, reheater, and intercooler. Heat exchangers also have many advantages in terms of small volume, weight, and metal consumption. The application of heat exchangers accounts for more than 50% of the entire refrigeration equipment and has a significant impact on refrigeration performance. Strengthening the heat transfer performance of refrigeration heat exchangers, reducing their weight and volume, and lowering metal consumption have always been the direction of development in the refrigeration industry after long-term development. The new type of heat exchanger adopts a new type of fully welded plate heat exchanger, which has been applied in refrigeration technology and has shown great development potential in the application process.

Heat exchangers come in various forms, plates, and specifications, but with the same performance, they are all suitable for heat exchange between water and water, steam and low-temperature water, and oil and high-temperature water. The heat exchange equipment used in these circulating media can be said to be one of the high-quality heat exchange equipment with higher heat transfer coefficient, more obvious heat transfer effect, and stronger resource utilization ability in modern society. As more and more users use heat exchangers, the problem of poor heat transfer efficiency is becoming increasingly prominent. Below are the reasons for the unsatisfactory heat transfer effect.

1. Non standard selection and incomplete consideration of flow rate: Many users only provide relevant heat exchange area or heat exchange capacity when purchasing and consulting heat exchanger equipment, without considering the properties, flow rate, composition, and working pressure of the circulating medium. They simply consider the heat exchange area of the heat exchanger and ignore other requirements. So either choose large or small, the heat exchanger chosen in this way is definitely not suitable and does not meet the normal practical requirements. It will cause the phenomenon of unsatisfactory heat transfer effect during use.

2. Unreasonable system configuration structure used: Most heat exchanger manufacturers produce heat exchangers that are designed and configured according to the actual usage requirements and working conditions of users during the production process. But some manufacturers, in order to save production costs and increase profits, only use heat exchangers for heat conversion. According to the law of energy conduction, the heat released on the hot side is equal to the heat absorbed on the cold side. For example, insufficient water volume and temperature result in the inability to lower the temperature at the hot end. If that's the case, even if the heat exchanger is too large, it's useless.

3. The manufacturer's equipment does not meet the standards: Generally, heat exchanger manufacturers will standardize production and design according to national and industry standards, and pass relevant tests and pressure tests before selling to users. However, some emerging small-scale manufacturers do not follow formal production procedures and circulation, but design and manufacture on their own, which will result in unsatisfactory heat transfer efficiency.
